May/June Favourites

Soap & Glory Heel Genius - I'll admit that I'm one of those people who totally neglect their feet. I always have good intentions to keep them nice and soft but I always forget. After wearing wellies for most of the Winter due to lots rain my feet have become horrible. Heel Genius has started to soften them up and make them lovely and soft again just in time for summer even though it's raining again so I'll probably end up back to square one ha.

Lush Dream Cream -  I received this as a gift for Valentine's day but didn't really pay it much attention until I decided to give it a whirl this month. I have been pleasantly surprised! Dream Cream is really lovely for sensitive skin, something which I have always suffered from. I've started to use this every time I shave or epilate my legs and it leaves them soft and smooth and it's a lot lighter than the Cocoa Butter that I normally use.

Bioderma - A make up remover that doesn't leave my eyes stinging for hours after?! Although pricey I have been enjoying this product and don't dread taking my make up off as much. NO MORE PUFFY SKIN!

Nuxe Reve de Miel - What a little beauty! I discovered this little gem when watching Lisa Eldridge's video on French Pharmacy skincare and fancied giving it a try. It's matte, nourishing and smells orangey. Kind of. Although it is pretty expensive for a lipbalm it does last a long time, and I have well and truly given mine a hammering ha.

Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre - Most people have something beauty related they can't quite get right. Mine is face cream and eye cream. I suffer with dry and oily skin so it's normally hard to find something to fit both. This is a really nice light cream that sinks in really fast and leaves your face feeling smooth without that heavy feeling.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Another lip product to add to the other 500, yes ha. I have been lusting after one of these for ages. They're strongly pigmented, soft and they dry matte. They can become a little bit slippy if you apply too much so the trick is to add more when it's dried to build up the colour intensity. I'm really impressed with these.

Avene - I've switched back to my Avene Gel Cleanser lately. Apart from the fact that I always manage to get it in my mouth, I really like it. I find this Avene cleanser better for keeping acne at bay more than 'healing' it although this could just be my skin. Rubbing this in your face for a few seconds leaves your skin feeling clean and fresh, and to me, there is no better feeling in the the hot sticky weather.

Clarasonic Mia - I've had my Mia for a fair few months and can honestly say that I love it. I normally use it in the evening to thoroughly wash away everything but now it's hot, humid and raining I like to use it morning and night.

N-Spa Lemon Souffle Body Scrub - I could smell this all day! This smells of gorgeous sweet lemons, a little bit like sherbet, and is really refreshing and gentle. N Spa need to make this in to a normal shower gel.

How To // D.I.Y Facial

I've always liked the idea of going to a posh salon to have a facial and other snazzy treatments, unfortunately, I've never liked the price tag. As much as I'd love to go and have a pampering session I think a lot of the prices are ridiculous. As Google and myself are pretty tight I went in search of D.I.Y pointers to help give my skin a bit of a spruce up at home.

Things you will need:
Cleanser
Exfoliator
A bowl with warm water
Face mask
Moisturiser

Cleanse
Firstly you will need to cleanse your skin to wash away any make up or dirt. If you don't use a Clarasonic in your skincare routine spend a few extra minutes working the cleanser in to your skin. I always concentrate more on my T Zone.

Exfoliate
After you're cleansed and squeaky clean use an exfoliator of your choice. Gently rub your chosen exfoliator in a small circular motion all over your face. Again, I tend to concentrate on on my T Zone or 'greasy' areas. Also, make sure that you rinse your face thoroughly as exfoliators can be drying to your skin.

Steam
This step is where the bowl comes in. If you don't have a bowl you can use your sink, no one will judge you haha. Fill up your bowl/sink with warm water NOT boiling. Pop a towel over your head covering the edges of the bowl/sink and let the steam drift up to your face for a few minutes. This step opens your pores and target some of the 'deeper down' dirt.

Face Mask
Relaxing time! Chose a face mask that is suited to your skin and apply to your face avoiding your eye area. Leave on for as directed and if you're not impatient like myself, you can add some cucumber to your eyes to brighten them up.  Rinse thoroughly.

Moisturise
When you have thoroughly rinsed all that attractive face mask away pat you skin dry. Leaving water to dry naturally on the skin can dry it out. The only thing that you have to do is gently apply moisturiser, try to use a basic one as ones with AHAs could irritate your skin.
